Conflict Resolution Skills

As part of its mission to promote peacebuilding the IPI runs a number projects, seminars and publications designed to generate interest in the area of peacebuilding.  In the past seminars have included representatives from all walks of life including politicians, academics and Nobel laureates.

Introduction to Conflict Resolution Skills

Organised by the Irish Peace Institute, University of Limerick

Date: December 11th & 12th, 2008 (Time: 9am - 5pm)

Location: University of Limerick

This course introduces the dynamics and skills involved in more effectively managing interpersonal conflict. Participants will develop an understanding of conflict resolution and the skills and strategies needed when confronted by conflict. Having to work with difficult people, conflict, and workplace stress are common occurrences in Ireland. This foundational workshop acts as a wellspring for positive change by introducing constructive concepts and skills to be used at work, home, and further a field.

· Assess and analyse real-life interpersonal conflict

· Explore personal response style to conflict and its consequences

· Learn practical communication skills for relating to others

· Learn and practice a model for resolving conflict

· Develop and increase confidence and ability to jointly solve problems with other people
